Chinese hog casing largest importer

Germany has long been the top importer of natural hog casings from China. Shanghai and Jiangsu account for 64% of China’s natural hog casing exports.

Natural hog sausage casings are processed from pig casings and have become the preferred material for high-end sausage products due to their breathability, edibility, and environmental friendliness. As a major consumer of meat products worldwide, Germany has consistently high demand for natural hog sausage casings.

 

According to Chinese customs statistics, the export volume of natural hog casings from China exceeded 19501 tons in 2024. The exports to Germany about 6398 tons, accounting for 32.8%, far exceeding other EU countries. About 60% of import casings for local sausage production, the rest are re export to other European countries.
